ALBUM LAUNCH w/band @ Coolroom, Castlemaine

Join us for an enchanting evening at The Coolroom as Castlemaine based songwriter Jesse Lawrance unveils his debut album, Some Little Town, accompanied by the full studio band.

Jesse is a seasoned singer-songwriter with roots firmly planted in the Texas songwriter tradition and a deep appreciation for country and Americana genres, he crafts songs that are gritty and poetic. Jesse’s lyrics combine powerful imagery with deft story-telling to create moving vignettes from the raw materials of life; think Guy Clark or Townes Van Zandt.

Dobro genius Pete Fidler (Nick Charles, Bill Jackson, Cartwheels) works regularly with Jesse and features heavily on the album. Pete is also superb on mandolin & lap steel.

Kat Mear (Cash Savage, Scott Cook) is known for her soaring fiddle and haunting backing vocals. As the saying goes … ‘she got honey on them fiddle strings!’

There’s a good reason why Ben Franz (The Waifs, Lucky Oceans) is the go-to double bass player when international Americana acts tour Australia. He is simply superb – no exceptions!

Honeytree brings soulfulness and a pure tone to her backing vocals. She also sings a duet with Jesse on the album - being his partner in song, and in life!

Jesse Lawrance's music evokes a sense of time and place, weaving strong melodies, powerful imagery and authentic storytelling into varied emotional landscapes. A true folk poet, Jesse is earning a reputation as a captivating songwriter and performer.

Jesse Lawrance & Luke Watt @ Shiraz Republic

Jesse Lawrance is a singer-songwriter based in Castlemaine, Victoria. Drawing influences from folk, country and Americana genres, he crafts songs that are both poetic and powerful. Jesse forges a strong connection with audiences through his songs, delivering carefully crafted lyrics by means of a baritone voice and an old guitar. He creates an atmosphere that is heartfelt and warm-a true folksinger; storyteller; poet.

Luke Watt is a songwriter/guitarist hailing from Warrnambool, Victoria. He was introduced to the recordings of blues legends such as Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt at an early age. Luke has since turned an appreciation of acoustic roots music into a passion. His songwriting is personal and emotive, and often draws on uniquely Australian stories. Combine this with a dynamic and percussive guitar style and the result is a musician with a force of presence rarely seen.
